Jammu, Dec 30: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised Swachhata Campaign here at KVK, Reasi which was enthuastically attended by the staff members and farmers. The cleanliness drive was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Prof.JP Sharma and able guidance of Director Extension (DE) of SKUAST-J, Prof. SK Gupta. The campaign was commenced from 16th Dec. and will be continued till 31st of Dec. The major objective of the campaign was to educate the masses about the cleanliness derive in every nook and corner and involve more and more people in this national campaign so that the different areas can be made neat and clean. During the campaign the hydroponics unit, polyhouse unit, natural farming unit, mushroom unit, hatchery unit, vermibed/vermicompost unit, IT Unit, integrated hort. orchard, KVK lawn, crop cafeteria, office buildings, farm machinery, training hall, library, toilets etc. of the KVK were cleaned. Sr. Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal led the campaign for cleanliness drive and urged the participants to be a part of Swachhat Bharat Abhiyan. He said that this campaign is India’s biggest cleanness drive which was formally launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narinder Modi on 2nd of October 2014. He urged participants to consistently keep cleaning their premises. He said that Swachhata campaign is a flagship programme of the Government of India to clean the vicinities so that the national drive of clean India can be made successful. He discussed on the cleanliness and hygienic conditions required for a healthy life. He expressed that there is need to aware more and more people on sanitation and suggested the participants to keep their villages, campuses, temples etc. clean and green. He also emphasized on the cleaning of drinking water areas, toilets, crop fields etc. He narrated that this campaign can reduce disease infestation in human beings, animals and crops. He urged the participants to make Swacchata a habit in their daily routine whether it is home, office; neighbourhood etc. so that the sacred Swachhata Mission can be made successful. He also discussed on the farm waste management and spoke on wealth from waste. He encouraged the participants to maintain the social and personal hygiene in day-to-day tasks. Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, Manohar Lal, Mohd. Iqbal and others were also present during the campaign. |
