People of J&K want early elections, restoration of statehood, employment: Tara Chand | | | Early Times Report RS PURA, Dec 31: Former Dy Chief Minister Tara Chand ,former Minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, former MLA Thakur Balwan Singh, President JKHCBA MK Bhardwaj, Vinod Sharma, Narinder Sharma,Dr Ramesh Sharma Saturday addressed a huge Jan Sampark Rally at RS Pura organized by Sarpanch Badrinath Sharma Panchayat Halqa Kotli Shah Doula ,RS Pura Jammu South constituency. Speaking on the occasion, former Dy CM Tara Chand said he will continue to fight for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's statehood and urged the Union government to fulfil its commitment over the same."As long as employment and economic opportunities are not created, the youth will continue to feel dejected. We have a substantial youth population and we need to tap their energy positively for the growth of the country," he said."We can only engage with the youth when we offer them better employment opportunities and unemployment is a soaring problem in the Union territory and the present regime has no roadmap available to tackle it," the former Dy CM said.He said he would continue to stand for the legal and genuine rights of the people of the Union territory."Our agenda is pro-people and we will ensure the people of Jammu and Kashmir are empowered with socioeconomic rights," he said."We all know that RS Pura belt was overlooked by BJP Govt. The region has an immense economic crisis with poor job opportunities for the local educated youth. I know its potential and challenges," he said. Former Dy CM said that Jammu and Kashmir has suffered immensely during the recent years and all eyes were now upon the secular and credible options to correct the wrongs committed in governance. I am committed to work for the welfare of the people of J&K in whatever capacity I am in now. At a personal level, for me and my family, it is my moral duty to serve people of J&K and since God has been kind to me there is no reason for me not to trust in his benevolence this time round. I stand by my choices, political or otherwise And my supporters believe that I know best, added former Dy CM. He said policies and programmes of Govt have failed to target the last person in the queue in terms of service delivery and livelihood avenues.Govt failed in speeding up infrastructure development and strengthening mechanism to provide basic amenities to all for improving the livelihood. In absence of elected Govt, people have no medium to get their grievances addressed. So, every person here is frustrated. Exuding confidence that the people will keep the flame of unity and brotherhood alive, he said, "I see no way of achieving anything in J&K without a lasting unity between different sections of our society. Unity in diversity must be our creed to last for all time and under all circumstances, otherwise, there is no end in sight to our common problems in the shape of poverty, unemployment, and under-development. Our mutual discord will make our descent into darkness. Divided we cannot achieve anything, let alone get back our abridged constitutional and democratic rights, added former Dy CM. Tara Chand asked the central government when it would ensure a congenial atmosphere for elections to take place in Jammu and Kashmir and elect a government of the people in the state. He also accused the Govt of failing to read the pulse of J&K people and said it cannot shun and run away from owning the responsibility of creating this mess and back-stabbing the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "The directionless, agenda-less and clueless policy of government has left the people of Jammu and Kashmir in complete despair and this is a grave national concern. Govt lacks economic roadmap for inclusion and progress for the people of J&K, he said. He said soaring unemployment in J&K is a serious concern. The ongoing uncertainty has severely damaged the prospect of a stable economy. And the rising unemployment puts the final nail in the coffin of economic stability. The job markets have been pushed to the edge, both in the public and private sector, with no fresh opportunities visible. As J&K doesn't have a vibrant private sector in place, the burden of employment ultimately falls on the public sector, which, unfortunately, it is unable to tackle as the absorption rate is low, he said. The government and its various departments do not seem, at all, serious about these rising figures. There are not enough or even requisite posts advertised in the government departments, and even, if advertised, they are never worked out effectively - lack of proper schedules and criteria, relapsing of the advertisements as per their whims, corruption, backdoor entries, favouritism etc. are the main loopholes, added Chand. |
