After arrest of teacher-turned-LeT terrorist, higher-ups likely to face action | Narwal blasts | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 2: Although Jammu Police claimed to have achieved a breakthrough in twin blasts at Narwal by arresting a teacher-turned-LeT terrorist, some higher-ups are likely to face action as the arrested teacher Arif Ahmed was regularly getting salary without any checking. Arif Ahmed, elder brother is also a government teacher. The arrested Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) teacher was posted at Government Middle School Phajilla in the Barnsal area of Ghulabgarh of Reasi district. He was involved in terror activities since long but higher-ups of the Education Department in that area were unaware of anti-national activities. Reports said that Arif Ahmed was first appointed as Rebar-e-Talim (ReT) teacher in the same school. After completing a five-year period he was regularized as a regular teacher in 2016. “For the last four years, Arif Ahmed was involved in terror activities and triggering one after other blasts in different parts of Jammu province”, sources said and added that taking advantage of the backwardness and inaccessibility of the area Arif Ahmed usually skipped the school with the connivance of some officers of the Education Department. According to police, a major success was achieved in the form of arrest of one Arif Ahmed, a resident of Reasi district of Jammu. “Arif is a government employee and is an active terrorist of the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit. He was working at the behest of Qasim, a Reasi resident, and his uncle Qamardin, also a Reasi resident, presently in Pakistan, who are part of LeT,” police said. Arif was involved in three IED blast incidents—Shastri Nagar, Katra, and the January 21 incident in the Narwal area in Transport Nagar. According to police Arif will not only lose his job but a strong dossier will be prepared against him. He was a very clever operative. He had burnt all the evidence be that his clothes, shoes and that he even set ablaze his mobile phone as well. But police worked hard on even small inputs and leads that led to the arrest of Arif. |
