JU, MIET distributes 50 Tablets at Balgran

JAMMU, Feb 13: Fostering a culture of sensitivity towards society, University of Jammu in collaboration with MIET College under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan today distributed 50 tablets to the children at Balgran, a charitable home for destitute children to help the students to integrate their education with technological advancements and further chisel their knowledge by opening their window to new horizons of the world. Prof Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu in his address said that the tablets provided to the students besides helping them in enhancing their computer knowledge but shall encourage them to explore opportunities in the digital space. He assured that University of Jammu is committed for the welfare of the Balgran and in due course of time various initiatives shall be taken by the University including deputing concerned faculty and scholars of the University of Jammu to enhance their knowledge base in various subjects. Prof. Rai also assured that the University of Jammu will explore more areas where Balgran can be helped by the Varsity to improve the academic and cultural talent of the students. Dr Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET College in his address said that the MIET College will follow the roadmap laid down by the Vice-Chancellor and in that regard, MIETCollege will also help Balgran in establishing a computer lab so that children can benefit maximum from the digital revolution. Earlier, Sh A.K Khajuria, President, Balgran, Charitable Home for Destitute Children (Regd) delivered a formal welcome address whereas VK Raina, Secretary conducted the proceedings of the event. Among others Prof R.D Sharma, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Dr. H L Goswami, former Principal GMC, Jammu, Dr RenuGoswami, former Secretary JKBOSE, Prof Jasbir Singh Convener UBA-JU, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Prof. Samridhi Arora, Dr HemaGandotra, Dr Sarika Manhas, Dr Suresh Rao, Ruchika Gupta, Joint Director, MIET and other members of the management Committee of Balgran were also present on the occasion.
