Kavinder lauds SC decision on Delimitation Commission, slams Mehbooba for her remarks
2/13/2023 10:00:11 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 13: Kavinder Gupta, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, while welcoming the decision of Supreme Court dismissing the plea against constitution of Delimitation Commission for redrawing Assembly and Parliamentary constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, has slammed the former CM of J&K Mehbooba Mufti for her reaction to the Apex Court decision.
It is pertinent to mention here that on March 6, 2020, Union Ministry of Law and Justice (Legislative Department) had issued a notification in exercise of power under section 3 of the Delimitation Act, 2002, constituting a Delimitation Commission, with former Supreme Court judge (Retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai as the chairperson. This notification was challenged by two Kashmiris in the apex court which had reserved its verdict on December 1 last year. The Supreme Court Bench comprising Justices S.K. Kaul and A.S. Oka delivered the verdict today dismissing the plea.
In a statement issued to media here today, Kavinder Gupta said that the BJP Govt led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre is known for strictly abiding by the law of the land and the Constitution of the Delimitation Commission was fully in consonance with the law in force and as per the constitutional mandate.
The senior BJP leader said that the petitions pertaining to the issue of validity of the exercise of power relating to Article 370 which is subject matter of petitions pending before the apex court will also meet the similar fate when finally decided by the Apex Court.
Meanwhile Kavinder Gupta came down heavily on the Former CM of J&K and other Valley based politicians for not accepting the Supreme Court Decision.
Specifically referring to Mehbooba's remarks, Kavinder said that her atrocious remarks should spring no surprise as she has more faith in Pakistan and its institutions which is evident from the statements made by her smelling of being the spokesperson of the rogue nation. He said that she deserves to be condemned for her remarks demeaning the highest Court of the nation.
