CLUJ elects students cultural council

Jammu, Feb 13: Department of Students Welfare, CLUJ conducted elections for Students Cultural Council. Out of 16 nominations received from PG Schools and Constituent Colleges, 04 candidates were shortlisted for the post of Secretary/ Joint Secretary, Students Cultural Council as per the statutory provisions of the university. The verification of documents/ certificates was done by the Cultural Coordinators- Dr Kuldeep Raina and Dr Revika Arora in the presence of the Observer, Prof. Ranvijay Singh, Dean Research Studies, CLUJ nominated for the event and also the Associate Deans, Dr Banpreet Kour and Dr Devinder Sharma. Dean Arts, Dr Geetanjali Rana , all the Assistant Deans- Dr Reeta Mania, Dr Maansi Sharma, Dr Javaid Iqbal, Dr Sushma Sharma and Dr Mohd. Ashraf were present on the occasion. Dean Students Welfare addressed the students and briefed them on the pivotal role of the Students Cultural Council that represents the cultural wings of Constituent colleges and PG Schools and has to work in unison with the Cultural wing of the DSW Office to plan , organize and effectively conduct Cultural and Literary events for Constituent Colleges and PG Schools, thereby enriching the Campus life and making it more vibrant. They shall propose necessary Cultural and Literary activities for inclusion in the Annual Calendar of activities.
Prof. Ranvijay Singh, Observer for the event in his address highlighted the significant role of Cultural Secretary/ Joint Secretary, Students Cultural Council as important stake holders in conducting varied Cultural and Literary activities and also working as a team to take the university to glorious heights.
The Cultural Coordinators briefed the eligible candidates about their role after which they were given 15 minutes for canvassing. The students unanimously elected Shallu Khajuria from GCOE as Secretary, Cultural Council. Shartik (MAM College), Sukriti Singh Jasrotia (GCW Gandhi Nagar), Akanksha (PG Dept of Zoology, School of Sciences) were subsequently elected as Joint Secretaries. The elected Secretary and Joint Secretaries shall be members of the Campus Cultural Committee headed by the Vice Chancellor. The remaining 12 students were designated as members of Students Cultural Council. The term of the Student Cultural Council shall be for a period of 01 year.
