Early Times Report
KATRA, Feb 14: A delegation of Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra comprsing of its President Rakesh Wazir, Chairman Shyam Lal Kesar,Sr. Vice President Virender Kesar, Vice Presidents Nishant Sharma, Ajay Kotwal, Executive members Vikas Gupta, Sushil Sharma, Neeraj Jamwal etc. met Principal Secretary Power Development Department H Rajesh Prasad and apprised him with regard to Power crisis at Katra.
Wazir while speaking on the occasion said that due to the importance of Katra being main pilgrim/Tourism hub and main source of economy of J&K, which caters more than 1 crore pilgrims in a year, no Power Cuts were ever implemented either at Katra Town or enroute Bhawan so that maximum facilities to the yatries are provided but a peculiar type of situation has arisen wherein, we are finding that from last few days Katra Town has been put under the ambit of severe scheduled and un scheduled Power cuts and as a result lacs and lacs of visiting pilgrims are facing inconvenience because every pilgrim visiting overhere passes most of its time at Guest Houses, Hotels, Yatra Slip Counters, Railway Station, Bus Stand, Waiting Halls, Paying Guest Houses, Yatra to Vaishnodevi ji and other areas and in absence of electricity are facing lot of hardships and a bad name not only to Katra town but to whole Union Territory is given and effecting the Yatra vigrously.
Shyam Lal Kesar while speaking on the occasion said that in addition these scheduled power cuts, which never ever happened at Katra, from last few months we are finding that un scheduled power cuts too have become a routine matter overhere whereas we are unable to understand that keeping in view the importance of Katra Town every effort should be made to have such a Power Infrastructure overhere wherein no Power Crisis may ever happen and request that this matter be taken up seriously and the bad name which whole Union territory is getting due to Power Crisis be stopped forthwith.
Virender Kesar while speaking on the occasion said that besides removing of the scheduled and un scheduled Power cuts the need of the hour is the improvement of whole Power infrastructure at Katra so that curtailemet free electricity may prevail overhere.
He further ephasisied for a complete plan under which complete under ground wiring on the pattern of Chandigarh overhere at Katra be done so that Katra may emerge as a beautiful town free of shabby wires all over.
Prasad listened the delegation patiently and assured that sympathetic consideration to each and every point raised in the meeting would be given and curtailment free electricity would be provided to the holy town very soon.
