Dire need to promote unsung national heroes: Kavinder | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 18: Kavinder Gupta, BJP leader and former deputy Chief Minister, J&K, today slammed the BSP MP from UP's Amroha Lok Sabha seat, Danish Ali for calling himself a follower of Tipu Sultan and Godse as a terrorist. In a statement issued here today, the former deputy Chief Minister said that after 76 years of Independence still some people are living under mental slavery. He accused the Congress Party of changing the history taught in Indian schools to focus on the Mughal rulers. "In 60s and 70's, the then Education Ministers had influenced the content of textbooks with their ideologies," he said, adding that Congress has robbed our history. He said that instead of reading history starting from 200 years of British rule, we should look at invasions dating back to 1,200 years. He asserted that there is dire need to glorify our national heroes and give proportionate references to all periods of Indian history. He said that rulers like Maharana Partap, Mauryas, Satvahanas and Guptas visioned a united India, but there is no reference book on them. He said such attempts will not be tolerated especially when the country is ruled by nationalist BJP government. The senior BJP leader said that the incumbent government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not allow such machinations to undervalue the glorious past of the country as was the case of governments under Congress leaders which seldom gave importance to highlight the heritage and valour of our countrymen living in the past. He said that no one has the right to undervalue the enormity of India and its people, and wasting even a jiffy in making things right will be considered as an act against the interest of the nation. Kavinder warned the political leaders to desist from issuing irrelevant statements, asserting that there is dire need to change the mindset of such people by promoting our unsung national heroes. |
