Director Horticulture, DDC chairman conduct tour of Bani, Basohli | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Feb 23: In an endeavor for the upliftment of farming community, Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, JKAS along with DDC Chairman Retd. Col. Maan Singh conducted a whirlwind tour of Bani & Bhasoli area of District Kathua. They were accompanied by SDM Bani Satish Sharma, JKAS, Chief Horticulture Officer Kathua Sushil Angurana and other officers & officials of the department. During the tour, the Director and DDC Chairman visited various sites at Challah, Draman, Kardoh and Jandrali remote areas along with the officers for selection of sites in order to develop Mega Departmental Nurseries for the benefit of farming community. The Director discussed in detail the Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) and its execution with the DDC Chairman and other stakeholders. The director also interacted with the farmers and briefed them about the various Centrally and UT sponsored schemes of the department and urged them to come forward, associate with the horticulture department and avail the benefits on different components viz: Protected cultivation, Water harvesting tanks, Drip irrigation, Custom Hiring Centres, Vermicompost units, Strawberry plantation, Tools / implements etc. for upliftment of their socio- economic status. Further, he said that the area is having a great potential for horticulture crops which must be tapped and appealed the PRI members and field functionaries to work in tandem for doubling the farmers income with special focus on area expansion, establishment of solar driers and processing units. Earlier, the Chief Horticulture Officer, Kathua briefed the Director about the status of various activities being going on in the area. |
