Cluster University of Jammu to start PhD program from July 2023

Jammu, Feb 23: A meeting of the 4th Academic Council of the Cluster University of Jammu was held on 23rd of February 2023 in the conference hall of University. In the opening remarks, Prof Bechan Lal, Vice-Chancellor welcomed the members of the Academic Council and Special Invitee, Prof Qayyum Husain, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University Srinagar. Prof Bechan Lal, Vice-Chancellor in his opening remarks emphasised the need of experience/project based learning. He urged the members to create an environment that encourages students to explore and experiment new innovative ideas, nurturing them to become think tanks. He also encouraged the members to create a platform for students to share their new thoughts/ideas and collaborate with fellow students of multi-disciplinary areas. He concluded his remarks by stressing the grant of credit points to such students for their innovative endeavour and work.
Dr Naveen Anand, Dean Academic Affairs, Cluster University of Jammu presented the agenda of the meeting which included 14 items. The Academic Council after threadbare discussions endorsed a number of agenda items for further consideration/approval of the competent bodies like Finance Committee, Syndicate and University Council.
Among the major decisions taken in the Academic Council includes participation of Cluster University in CUET-UG & PG from the academic session 2023-2024, start of summer semester for students to make up for any attendance shortage they may have had in their previous semesters, guidelines for Sponsored Research Projects, start of PhD program from July 2023 and amendments in course structure & syllabi of UG course as per NEP-2020.
The meeting was also attended by Registrar, Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Deans of various Faculties, Principals of Constituent Colleges, Heads of the Departments of Cluster University of Jammu, Registrar and Deans of the Faculties of the Cluster University Srinagar.
