LG vows to avenge killing of Sanjay Sharma | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 27: Amid massive protests against the gruesome killing of Kashmiri Pandit bank guard Sanjay Sharma, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday vowed to avenge the killing. The 40-year-old Sharma was shot dead by the terrorists in Pulwama district on Sunday, in a local market, adding to the series of targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandit community members in Kashmir. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha termed the incident “unfortunate” and said the killers of Sharma will be brought to book. “Our security forces will take care of whoever has carried out this unfortunate act,” he said, adding that the security situation was much better than before in Jammu and Kashmir but the administration is making efforts to secure the people. “It is an extremely unfortunate incident. No words are enough to condemn the killing,” Sinha told reporters at Srinagar. He said while such incidents can create doubts in the minds of the people about the security scenario, the administration and security forces were working “with a 360-degree approach”. “The situation today is much better but we are working towards making it a model situation,” he added. Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Vijay Kumar visited district Pulwama after a minority killing, where he held a detailed security review meeting in which officers of the Police and other security forces participated. Reports said that in the security meeting officers including Army’s Sector Commander, DIG Police, DIG CRPF, SSP Pulwama, Army’s CO, and CRPF’s Commandants and other officers were present. ADGP Kashmir was briefed about the overall security measures put in place by the participating officers. During the meeting, ADGP Kashmir imparted upon them to implement of additional security measures in order to prevent such terror incidents. While instructing the officers present in the meeting, the ADGP Kashmir stressed enhancing counter-terror operations in the Pulwama district. He also directed police officers present in the meeting to generate more human and technical intelligence and further launch counter-terror operations along with security forces. Besides, the process for identifying hybrid terrorism and taking appropriate actions was also discussed in the meeting. |
