| MeT predicts more rains, snowfall in J&K | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Mar 4: The weather department has predicted fairly widespread light rain and snow over the Kashmir region in the next 24 hours. Meteorological Centre Srinagar this morning said isolated rain and snow is also expected on Sunday.
"Fairly widespread light rain/snow/ thunderstorm over Kashmir division and scattered light rain and thunderstorm over Jammu division is predicted for next 24 hours," the MeT said.
For the subsequent two days, the MeT predicted isolated light rain/snow/ thunderstorms to dry weather.
The weather is likely to improve from March 6.
Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a low of 6.4 C last night, over 4.2 C above normal. The day temperature in Srinagar on Friday was 15.1 C, about 2 notches above normal.
The night temperature at Pahalgam resort in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir was recorded at 1.2 C against 1.7 C on the previous night. The day temperature on Friday was 13.2 C at the resort.
Officials said the night temperature at the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district was recorded minus 1 C, some 3.5 degrees above normal. The day temperature on Friday was 4.2 C, about 1 degrees above normal.
Qazigund, the gateway town to the Valley, recorded a low of 4.2 C against 5.6 C on the previous night.
Kupwara weather station in North Kashmir registered a low of 4.2 Celsius.
The night temperatures continue to rise in the Jammu region.
Jammu recorded a low of 13.2 C last night. In other weather station of Jammu region, Banihal recorded a low of 6.4 C , Batote 9.2 C , Katra 13.6 C and Bhadarwah 7 C.
Ladakh's Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 2.8 C and minus 4.6 C respectively, the MeT official said. |
