Cong infighting never ends | | | The Congress Party in Jammu and Kashmir is in news again, this time for how the funds given by the high command were utilized during the last phase of Bharat Jodo Yatra. According to the media reports the funds which were allocated by the party leadership for the event were managed by a few leaders and they did it without taking others into confidence. Leaders who have spent money from their own pockets have no idea about who will settle their claims. Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo Yata spent nearly 11-days in J&K and the senior Congress leader made every attempt to bring the scattered party leadership in J&K on one platform but it seems his efforts haven’t yielded the desired results. The Congress in Jammu and Kashmir being marred by factionalism is nothing new. Despite sharing power in J&K for 12 consecutive years from 2002 to 2014, the party as of date is finding to put its act together. Many of its leaders and workers have said goodbye to the ‘grand old party’ of the country and are building their own constituencies. Ones who are still with the Congress in J&K are trying to establish their supremacy over each other rather than developing a connection with a common man. If the infighting in the Congress continues, the party would find it hard to make any impact in the forthcoming assembly elections in J&K and it would place other parties in a better position. The Congress leaders should set their differences aside and end the differences of opinion that have cropped up on how the money was spent and who spent it during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Leaders who have managed the expenses on their own should be reimbursed and to make things clear the leaders who handled the last phase of the yatra should share the details of the expenses with their other colleagues. The Congress leaders need to set their basic rights. If they keep on locking horns with each other every time, they may end up harming the larger interests of the party. Now, it’s upto the Congress leaders whether they want to settle their differences or keep on fighting. It’s their choice. |
