Congress without office bearers in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 9: The Congress Party in Jammu and Kashmir is hesitating to appoint new office bearers due to a lack of consensus among senior leaders. Highly placed sources in Congress said that party leadership is facing pressure from senior leaders to accommodate their loyalists at important positions. “Tentative lists of office bearers have been prepared thrice but its has not been sent forward for approval to the high command”, sources said and added that the Congress leadership is finding it difficult to accommodate all loyalists of senior leaders. After the formation of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) led by Ghulam Nabi Azad it was believed that factionalism will end in the J&K Congress. Loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad were dubbed as dissidents in the Congress but factionalism has still prevailed in the party. The Congress high command has appointed president and working president of the J&K unit and also constituted the campaign committee, political affairs committee, coordination committee, manifesto committee, publicity and publication committee, disciplinary committee, and pradesh election committee of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) but the office bearers are yet to be appointed. |
