Despite re-joining Cong, ex-Azad loyalists struggle to regain lost positions | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 21: Over two and half months have been passed after their re-joining in the Congress party but the incumbent leaders of the party are not ready to allow former loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad to actively participate in activities of the party. Tara Chand, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Thakur Balwan Singh and other senior, who “ditched” their political mentor Ghulam Nabi Azad, are finding it difficult to get back the positions which they were enjoying before quitting the Congress party. Despite directions from the high command to properly accommodate these ex-loyalists of Azad, the present leadership of the J&K Congress, is not ready to accept them. Notably, at least seventeen loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad, including two political stalwarts who were expelled from the Democratic Azad Party (DAP), rejoined the Congress party in New Delhi on January 6, 2023. Former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand along with former J&K Congress chief Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, ex-MLA Thakur Balwan Singh, and others re-joined the Congress party. They way former loyalists of Azad have been side-lined in the party is a clear indication that getting previous position is difficult rather impossible for them. The incumbent leadership is organizing rallies in connection with the “Hath Se Hath Jodo” campaign but Tara Chand and party is not involved in this campaign. On Monday Tara Chand started the “Hath Se Hath Jodo” campaign in Chhamb/Akhnoor constituencies but no senior leader was present during the campaign. |
