MeT predicts rains with thunderstorm in plains, and snow over higher reaches of J&K

SRINAGAR, Mar 29: Meteorological department on Wednesday predicted intermittent rains with thunderstorm in plains and snowfall on higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir from March 30 to April 5. The thunderstorm may be accompanied by strong gusty winds, the MeT office said. Currently the weather is mostly clear with sun appearing in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley. Barring the ski resort of Gulmarg the minimum temperature all across the Kashmir valley was recorded below normal. However, the day temperature was recorded above 3 degree Celsius.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.5 degree Celsius on Wednesday which was 0.6 degree Celsius below normal of 6,1 degree Celsius, the Met office said.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of 2.6 degree Celsius against 3.5 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 2.1 degree Celsius below normal for the gateway of Kashmir.
Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.3 degree Celsius against minus 0.6 degree Celsius a day ago. It was 1.9 degree below normal for the valley of shepherds.
Kokernag settled on 4.3 degree Celsius for the second consecutive day on Wednesday and it was 0.4 degree Celsius below normal for the famous picnic spot of south Kashmir.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.0 degree Celsius against 0.5 degree Celsius a day ago which was 0.8 degree Celsius above normal for the famed ski resort of Kashmir. Kupwara recorded a low of 4.2 degree Celsius which was 0.3 degree Celsius below normal of 4.5 degree Celsius for the frontier Kashmir district, the MeT office said.
