Jammu, Apr 4: Bringing discipline in the faction-ridden Congress party appeared to be a distant dream as the senior party leaders are using all platforms to demonize each other. Not only Congress leaders are trying to expose each other through fake accounts, but some senior party activists have also levelled serious allegations against two former ministers on the official social media group of the J&K unit. Screenshots of social media chats have gone viral on social media in which party leaders exposed two former Congress ministers. As per the chat, a leader charged a former minister with being involved in corruption and nepotism. In another social media chat that has gone viral on social media, a leader recounted the infamous 2006 Srinagar Sex Scandal. The sex scandal case, which had sent several MLAs, civil and police officers behind bars, has come to haunt Congress leaders due to infighting in the party. The sex scandal which surfaced in 2006 after a CD showing lurid details of some accused with girls, one of them a minor, appeared locally setting off a wave of protest in the local populace. A total of 18 accused, including former ministers, police officers, and senior bureaucrats were involved in the scandal. Highly placed sources said that Congress leaders are exposing each other only to get party mandate in the coming assembly elections in J&K. |
