Police arrests 2 drug peddlers with contraband substance in Handwara | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 4: Police on Tuesday arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara areas of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. Police said a police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Badrah crossing on Baramulla-Handwara National Highway intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully. During the search, about 32 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Umar Reyaz Bhat, a resident of Kralgund who was shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Meanwhile, in a similar incident a police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Manzgam intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee but was apprehended tactfully. During the search, about 20 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Nisar Ahmad Lone, a resident of Chowkibal Kupwara. The accused has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, police added.
