Mercury stays below normal amid dry weather in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 7: The minimum and maximum temperature stays below normal in Kashmir valley amid Meteorological forecast of dry weather during the next 24 hours. The weather is likely to remain dry till April 10 and generally cloudy with light rain at isolated places towards late afternoon or evening on April 11 while it will be generally cloudy from April 12 to April 15, MeT office said. Bright sun appeared in Srinagar with mostly clear sky on Friday much to the delight of the people and tourists. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 4.4 degree Celsius against 6.3 degree Celsius the previous night. It was, however, 2.5 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the season. The maximum temperature also stays below normal recorded at 17.3 degree Celsius which was 1.2 degree Celsius below normal. Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of 3.0 degree Celsius against 4.0 degree Celsius and it was 2.7 degree Celsius below normal for the gateway of Kashmir. Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 1.8 degree Celsius against 2.4 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 4.0 degree Celsius below normal for the tourist hot spot. Kokernag showed a slight improvement and recorded a low of 3.6 degree Celsius against 3.1 degree Celsius and however, it was still 1.8 degree Celsius below normal for the picnic spot of south Kashmir. Gulmarg in north Kashmir settled at minus 1.6 degree Celsius for the second consecutive day on Friday and It was 2.1 degree Celsius below normal for the famous ski resort. Kupwara plunged to a low of 1.7 degree Celsius against 3.6 degree Celsius the previous night and it was 3.8 degree Celsius below normal for the frontier Kashmir district, the MeT office said. |
