KISHTWAR, Apr 9: A farmer awareness camp was held today at Karthaie village of Jaar panchayat, block Paddar. The camp focused on educating farmers about the latest cultivation technology for Kharif crops such as maize, paddy, sorghum and vegetables. Special emphasis was placed on the cultivation of millet and its importance in the diet. Subject Matter Specialist, Jatinder Singh, advised the farming community to reserve a portion of their land for millet crops. He encouraged farmers to adopt traditional farming practices used by their forefathers. More than 50 farmers participated in the camp. The event was attended by Manoj Kumar, In-Charge Agricultural Extension Officer Massu; Raj Kumar, In-Charge Agricultural Extension Officer Sohal; Sunil Kumar, Agricultural Extension Agent Atholi and members of the Bharatiya Kissan Union. The programme was organised under the direction of Chief Agriculture Officer Kishtwar, Amjad Hussain Malik and supervised by Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Paddar, Sahil Gandotra. |
