Natrang stages Raaste Band nahi | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 9: Natrang presented a new Hindi play ‘Raaste Band Nahi’ written by Sudershan Majithia and directed by Neeraj Kant here today at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu under Natrang's weekly theatre series ‘Sunday Theatre’. The play begins with where Sanjeev, a green card holder NRI boy from America, arrives with his father Balakram to see Narayan Babu's daughter. The story takes a new turn when the girl enters with a tray of tea as the conversation between Balakram and Narayan takes place in a convivial atmosphere. The girl "Rekha", who is the fifth of her five sisters, starts exposing the boy and his family one by one. She tells that Sanjeev had reached America only in exchange for his elder brother's dowry. And Sanjeev's sister-in-law was burnt for dowry only, due to which the whole family had to spend days together in jail. Rekha then says that Sanjeev had a relationship with a married woman as well, due to which she was subjected to a lot of harassment from the woman's husband. Thus the conversation gets very heated and eventually the boy and his father walk out of Narayan Babu's house. After this Rekha tells her parents that now they have nothing to worry about their daughter. She will find her own way, there are no closed doors for her. Rebelling against the suffocating atmosphere of society and home, Rekha leaves her home towards a new direction and on a new path on which there are hundreds, thousands of girls along with Rekha. In search of a new horizon, where liberation is liberation. Natrang actors who acted in the play included Palshin Dutta, Vishal Sharma, Abhimanyu Choudhary, Amit Brahmi, Sheryaar Salaria, Sumit Bandaral and Naina Rakwal. The lights and sound of the play were executed by Aadesh Dhar. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen and the presentations were done by Mihir Gujral. |
