After Papalpreet's arrest, fresh alert sounded for Amritpal in Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 11: A day after the arrest of Amritpal Singh’s close aide Papalpreet Singh, a fresh alert has been sounded in Jammu about the movement of the fugitive pro-Khalistani radical preacher. Highly placed sources said cops in Kathua, Samba, Jammu, and Udhampur districts have been asked to intensify checking at the sensitive areas to foil any attempt of Amritpal Singh to sneak to J&K. Important to mention here that Amritpal Singh’s close aide Papalpreet Singh was nabbed in the Amritsar district of Punjab on Monday and detained under the National Security Act (NSA). Papalpreet is the main associate of Amritpal Singh. He has been arrested from the Kathunangal area in Amritsar near the Indo-Pakistan border. Papalpreet has been detained under the stringent National Security Act (NSA) and six other cases have also been registered against him. Earlier, officials said Papalpreet was arrested in a Punjab Police operation that also involved its counter-intelligence wing. They had also said that he was arrested in Hoshiarpur. Papalpreet is considered to be Amritpal’s mentor and has allegedly been in contact with Pakistan's ISI. As reported earlier, the pro-Khalistan preacher was in touch with a couple in Jammu through his mentor Papalpreet Singh. A woman who was arrested from Kullian village of R S Pura in Jammu and Kashmir along with her husband in March is a cousin of Papalpreet Singh. Within hours after Amritpal Singh escaped from the cordon of police in Punjab, Papalpreet Singh called her sister on Whatsapp, reports said, adding, “Papalpreet Singh called her cousin only to arrange shelter for Amritpal Singh in Jammu”. |
