| J&K braces for another wet spell from today | | |

Srinagar, Apr 14: Meteorological Department has predicted widespread to fairly widespread rain from Sunday for four days across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
This wet spell is due to the approaching of a fresh Western Disturbance over north India which may result in the decrease of over 7-8 C from the regular daytime temperature.
MeT said a fresh spell of intermittent light to moderate rain or snowfall is expected over higher reaches very likely in J&K from April 16 -20 with main activity during Monday to Tuesday.
"During this wet spell, thunderstorm with strong gusty wind reaching (20-30KMPH) and hailstorm is also possible at some places of Jammu and Kashmir," the Srinagar MeT office said.
Due to the wet weather, there is a possibility of temporary disruption of surface transportation especially over hilly and snowbound areas.
The MeT has advised farmers to postpone spraying of orchards and maintain proper drainage of fields during wet weather.
Meanwhile, the night temperature recorded a rise in Kashmir.
The temperature in Srinagar last night was 9.1C which was 1.5C above normal for the summer capital.
The tourist resort of Pahalgam had 4.6, Gulmarg 7 and Kupwara 6.2 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature last night.
The winter capital Jammu had 21.2, Banihal, 9.3, Katra 19.4 and Bhadarwah 8.9 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature.
In the Union Territory of Ladakh, Leh and Kargil recorded a low of 2.7C and 4.62C respectively, MeT said. |
