ICDS supervisors urge admin to release pending salaries
5/2/2023 10:33:41 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 2: The J&K ICDS supervisors union led by its president, Abida War held a one day sit at Press Enclave here to highlight the various issues faced by ICDS supervisors.
The sit-in protest was supported by Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee JKECC whose leadership also participated in the protest.
In a statement Abida War, President JKICDSSU said, “It’s very unfortunate that the supervisors of ICDS (POSHAN) Department in UT J & K have been without their salaries for the past nine months, and the higher authorities are not resolving the matter.”
“The ICDS supervisors are regular employees of the Social Welfare Department in J&K Government who were recruited by J&K SSRB and as such are governed by J&K-Civil Services rules” Abida said.
“The salary of ICDS supervisors is being currently contingent to the allocation under Nutritional Budget (CSS component) which is contrary to the rules in vogue for salary payments being given to same employees in rest of the country, which reflects financial and administrative anomalies in J&K, thus requires streamlining under J&K UT regular budget similar to other J&K government employees,” she said.
“We have been reiterating this grave issue before concerned quarters for a long time, but till date all in vain and till date we have been deprived of our basic rights and have been suffering a lot,” she added.
Abida said that the supervisors are front runners in successfully implementing all the schemes and programmes of ICDS department at ground zero level of urban, rural and in remotest areas, besides the newly assigned duties of financial management & procurement of nutrition supplies, which definitely overburdened our workload; and same is being performed satisfactorily.
We have been left with “empty bowls to feed the hungry”. The non-payment of our due salaries has added to our hardships besides that our financial liabilities have accumulated.
Abida urged the administration to streamline the salary of the supervisors by delinking from CSS share to SS.
