Police arrest two teachers for sexual harassment of 11th class student

Kishtwar, May 21: After five days since the shameful incident involving sexual harassment of a teenage girl appearing for 11th class examination in remote Kuchhal area of Kishtwar District, Kishtwar police arrested two government Physical Education teachers in a case registered at Police Station Chatroo and produce them before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar who sent both the accused teachers to 5 days police custody.
As per the details available with Early Times, Kishtwar police led by SSP Kishtwar constituted various teams led by Dy. SP Hq Kishtwar Ashish Gupta, Dy. SP DAR Sajjad Khan, SHO Kishtwar Syed Abid Shah Bukhari, SHO Police Station Chatroo Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday & Sub Inspector Moin Khan who after hectic efforts manage to arrest by the accused from the outskirts of Kishtwar town.
As per details available with Early Times, the father of the victim (name withheld), a resident of Kuchhal village in Mughalmaidan area of Kishtwar District lodged a written complaint stating therein that his minor daughter (name withheld) is a student of 11th class at Higher Secondary School Kuchhal added that on 14-5-2023 at about 2PM, after completion of 11th class paper, teachers namely Sanjay Kumar Sharma & Roshan Lal Shan posted as Superintendent & Deputy Superintendent at Examination center Kuchhal both residents of Kishtwar kept his daughter alone in a room and outraged her modesty.
On this instant case FIR No.. 32/2023 U/S 354/IPC, 8/9(f) POCSO Act stands registered at Police Station Chatroo and investigation was set into motion beside manhunt was launched to arrest them.
Following the surfacing of the incident, the angry people from Kuchhal and adjoining villages also held a strong protest against the incident and demanded immediate arrest of both the teachers who were immediately placed under suspension by DC Kishtwar and was attached in the office of Chief Education Officer Kishtwar.
The girl and her two friends also recorded their statements before juvenile Justice Board and Chief Judicial Magistrate wherein they narrated about the horrific incident and the trauma through which they have undergone following the mischievous incident involving none other than the teachers.
Several members from civil society and religious organisations condemn the incident and urged upon the police and administration to ensure free and fair atmosphere for the young girls who can carry on with the studies in congenial atmosphere briar also urged upon the administration to ensure installation of CCTV cameras at schools and coaching institutions.
People also questioned board authorities for engaging Physical Education Teachers for examination duties and called upon the authorities to order probe into the nexus involving board officials.
