Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, June 3: A 2-day course on "Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs)" was conducted at SKPA starting on 2nd June 2023 and concluded today. The training program was attended by 19 officers from various departments of J&K Police. The course aimed to provide an overview of IPRs, including the importance of IPRs in India, biotechnology and intellectual property, research and IPR management, patents and trademarks, the Trade Marks Act of 1999, the Copyrights Act of 1957, and the enforcement of IPRs in relation to counterfeiting and piracy in both physical and digital domains. Eminent guest faculties from CIPAM Ministry of Commerce and Industries, GoI New Delhi, were invited to share their extensive experiences with the participants. A valediction function was held at the Academy, with Rajinder Kumar Gupta, JKPS, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor), serving as the chief guest. During his address, Gupta expressed concerns about the violations of Intellectual Property Rights and the serious threats they pose. He emphasized the need to equip police officers with appropriate knowledge and training in this field.
