Ghar Kab Aao Gay? Month on, Omar ‘missing’ from JK | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 3: Former Chief Minister and senior National Conference, leader Omar Abdullah has been “missing” from the Jammu and Kashmir with some of his party cadres “seeking his whereabouts”. Sources said for the last around a month Omar has not been seen at any of the party or social activities in his native Kashmir “even at the most crucial times.” As per the sources, he has been “out of town” but that the party has been asked to be silent about the issue as his “trip is a bit confidential and personal.” Sources said Omar “could be away with some of his nears and dears and thus wants to keep the visit highly confidential.” Interestingly Omar has not even posted about his alleged trip out of Jammu and Kashmir. “He wants to give a feel through his social media posts that he is here but actually none has seen him for the last over a month,” said a source in the NC on the condition of anonymity. The sources said the absence of Omar from the ground has been putting the party to “awkward situation.” “On one hand people ask where he is and on the other, we’re even not aware of why and where he has gone and with whom,” said an observer. The sources said the decision making in the National Conference is also affected due to Omar’s absence. “While as Dr (Farooq Abdullah) Sahib remains busy travelling places across the county, Omar Sahib used to be the main person to seek advise from on the political issues but as of now the process is affected,” said a source. Sources said what raised questions about Omar’s absence is that he didn’t inform anyone about his travel plans. “There was no issue if he was going somewhere but to do it in a way that looks secret raises suspicion,” said a person close the National Conference. Despite repeated attempts, Omar or his party colleagues were not available for comments. |
