Director Archives inspects restoration work at Sunder Singh Gurudwara | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 3: The Sunder Singh Gurudwara, a 200-year-old historical site located at Raghunath Bazar, is currently undergoing restoration as part of the "Scheme for Revival, Restoration, Preservation, and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage of J&K." Pardeep Kumar, Director of Archives, Archaeology, and Museums, J&K, along with Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Assistant Director, Mukul Magotra, Curator, and a team from the Archaeology department, visited the Gurudwara today to assess the progress of the ongoing restoration work. The first phase of the restoration work is nearing completion, and the Director Archives provided on-the-spot instructions to the Junior Engineers from the Public Works Department to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the remaining works to be undertaken in phase II of the project. He also emphasized the inclusion of specific components in the DPRs to adhere to the norms of Archaeology and ensure the preservation of the Gurudwara's heritage structure. The engineers were instructed to take every necessary step to maintain its originality. Members of the Gurudwara Prabandak Committee were also present during the visit and expressed their gratitude to the department for undertaking the restoration work. The Committee members extended their felicitations to the Director and commended his efforts in preserving the rich heritage and culture of Jammu and Kashmir. |
