Police foils bovine smuggling attempts, rescues 49 animals | | | Early Times Report REASI, June 9: The Reasi Police has intensified its efforts to combat bovine smuggling in the district, leading to the foiling of three smuggling attempts, the rescue of 49 bovines, and the subsequent arrest of the smugglers involved. In a series of coordinated operations, the Reasi Police deployed special checkpoints and conducted surprise inspections, effectively intercepting individuals involved in the illegal transportation of bovines. During a surprise naka at Bhal, Mahore Area, the police apprehended Abdul Hamied, son of Sharief Shah, a resident of Kanthi Tehsil Arnas in District Reasi. Eight bovines were rescued from his possession. A case has been registered against him under FIR No. 54/2023 U/S 188 IPC at the Mahore Police Station, with investigations underway. In another incident, the police team stationed at Mahore intercepted Javed Shah, son of Mohd Shafi and a resident of Bharnali Thuroo, while attempting to transport ten bovines towards Kashmir without the necessary permissions. A case has been registered against him under FIR No. 55/2023 U/S 188 IPC at the Mahore Police Station. The vigilant officers from the Special Police Post (SPP) in Khour successfully intercepted Amjad Ali, son of Haji Mohd Sadiq and a resident of Anantnag, rescuing 31 bovines from his possession. Amjad Ali has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him under FIR No. 56/2023 U/S 188 IPC at the Mahore Police Station. SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta - JKPS, emphasized the Reasi Police's relentless efforts in eradicating bovine smuggling to establish peace and tranquility in the region. The crackdown on this illegal trade demonstrates the police force's commitment to maintaining law and order and safeguarding the welfare of the animals. Bovine smuggling poses a threat not only to the economy but also to the environment and social harmony. The Reasi Police has reaffirmed its commitment to curb such illicit activities and has called for continued public support in reporting any suspicious activities related to bovine smuggling.
