Early Times Report JAMMU, June 9: The Directorate of Rural Sanitation J&K organized a one-day orientation programme for Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin-interns (under Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin-Internship) 2023. The programme aimed to enroll and engage youth in promoting cleanliness and hygiene in villages. Interested youth, including research scholars from colleges and universities, were invited to work in villages and dedicate at least 100 hours towards Swachhata over a period of 2 months. The orientation programme was attended by swachhata interns from Jammu, Samba, and Reasi districts, with interns from other districts joining online. Director Rural Sanitation J&K, Charandeep Singh, provided insights into the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin and the department's efforts to achieve the goal of a Swachh JKUT. He highlighted the interns' role in creating awareness and bringing about a change in sanitation-related behavior. He encouraged them to engage in activities such as door-to-door campaigns, waste collection drives, and organizing cleanliness drives. The participants were familiarized with different aspects of the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin through audiovisual aids, including the infrastructure and assets being implemented by the department. The importance of achieving 100% ODF Plus Model saturation was emphasized, and the interns were urged to actively contribute to the mission. The programme was attended by officials including the Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu, Deputy Director Rural Sanitation Jammu, District Panchayat Officer Jammu, District Panchayat Officer Samba, Block Development Officer, Directorate of Rural Sanitation JK, and Field Officer Rural Sanitation Jammu. |
