Early Times Report JAMMU, June 9: NSS Unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu, in collaboration with Govt. Ayurvedic Medical College Akhnoor, organized a one-day Yoga awareness program to commemorate the upcoming 9th International Yoga Day under the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav initiative. The event, held under the patronage of college Principal Prof. Sameru Sharma, aimed to highlight the significance of Yoga as an invaluable gift from India's ancient tradition to the world. Addressing the participants, Prof. Sameru Sharma emphasized that Yoga embodies the unity of mind and body, thought and action, and fosters harmony between humans and nature. It provides a holistic approach to health and well-being, offering more than just physical exercise. It encourages individuals to discover a sense of oneness with themselves, the world, and nature. The program witnessed the active participation of around 90 students and staff members. Dr. Abhisheik Magotra, Associate Professor at Govt. Ayurvedic Medical College Akhnoor, served as the resource person for the event. He highlighted the prevalence of stress in modern life and how Yoga aims to replace stress with calmness and peace. Dr. Magotra urged all participants to spread awareness about the Yoga protocol and integrate Yoga into their daily lives. The event was organized by NSS volunteers Gazanfar Kazmi, Rakshant Balotra, Sunidhi Sharma, Satvik, Harshdeep, Divyansh, and Usman, under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Raman Gupta. The organizers expressed their gratitude to Dr. Abhisheik's Yoga team, including Dr. Sheetal Gupta and Archna Sharma. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by senior NSS volunteer Reeya Rehan. |
