Early Times Report BANDIPORA, June 9: As part of the Union Government's Public Outreach Programme, Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, visited Bandipora to assess the on-ground implementation of government schemes. During his visit, Ashwini Kumar Choubey visited the Wullar vantage park to personally evaluate the conservation efforts for Wullar Lake. Accompanied by Principal Secretary Forest, Dheeraj Gupta, PCCF Roshan Jaggi, APCCF T Rabi Kumar, Conservator of Forest North Circle Irfan Rasool Wani, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmed, SSP Bandipora Lakshay Sharma, and other officials from the Forest Department and District Administration, the minister inspected stalls set up by various departments at Wullar vantage. The Deputy Commissioner provided updates on the progress of various centrally sponsored schemes. During the visit, the minister distributed sanction letters for welfare schemes to beneficiaries from various departments, including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Industries, Social Welfare, NRLM, and Banks. He also distributed books to students and ABPMJAY cards to beneficiaries of the Health Department. At Wullar Vantage, Ashwini Kumar Choubey interacted with Wullar mitras (friends of Wullar) and administered an oath to them, as well as to officers, officials, and other participants, to protect the environment and combat plastic pollution. The minister also chaired a meeting with officers at the mini Secretariat in Bandipora to review the progress of scheme implementation at the grassroots level. The Deputy Commissioner provided updates on various developmental activities, the progress of government-sponsored schemes, and the district's achievements. During his speech, the minister emphasized the central government's commitment to elevate the development landscape and create employment opportunities for youth. Ashwini Kumar Choubey expressed satisfaction with the proper implementation of government schemes by the District Administration. He commended the close coordination between the District Administration and Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in implementing government schemes and programs for the welfare of the people. The minister stressed the importance of promoting eco-tourism and establishing Eco Clubs in educational institutions. He also participated in a plantation drive at the mini Secretariat. During his visit, various delegations comprising DDCs, BDCs, Sarpanchs, and youth representatives met the minister and discussed enhanced ration distribution, communication, and other issues. The visit concluded with captivating cultural performances by students from HSS Kaloosa, HSS Mantrigam, Army Goodwill School, and IDPS Bandipora at the NHPC auditorium, with the message "Save Environment - Save Earth." |
