Early Times Report JAMMU, June 21: The Department of Civil Engineering at Yogananda College of Engineering and Technology (YCET) arranged an industrial visit to the "Development of Tawi River Front, Jammu" for the 6th and 4th semester students of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The objective of the visit was to provide exposure to students and faculty in the field of technology. The visit commenced from the 4th Tawi Bridge and concluded at Tawi Bridge at Bikram Chowk. During the visit, the students witnessed the progress of various construction elements such as diaphragm walls, retaining walls, anchor slabs, and embankments for the left bank, right bank, and central island from Bikram Chowk bridge to Nikki Tawi barrage in Jammu. They also had the opportunity to observe the functioning of different construction equipment including Gantry Crane, Clamp Shell, Back-Hoe, Bulldozer, Road Roller, Batching Plant, and Drag Line. The visit provided valuable insights into the application of modern technology at the project site. The Tawi River Front Project serves as a pilot project for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Such visits are a regular part of the activity calendar followed at YCET. The management of YCET expressed gratitude to the Project Director, JSCL (Jammu Smart City Limited), Sunil Thusu, General Manager, Rajesh Abrol, JSCL, and Assistant Executive Engineer, JSCL, for granting permission for the faculty and students to visit the Tawi River Front site. Sachin Sawhney, JE, JSCL, was deputed to explain in detail the various ongoing works at the site. The Chairman (JGEI) Er. Vidhi Singh Jamwal, Vice-Chairman (JGEI) Th. Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal, MD (JGEI) Er. Renu Bangroo, Er. Dinesh Gupta, Dean (Academics), and Er. B.R Verma (Chief-Coordinator) appreciated the initiative taken by the Civil Engineering Department. The students were accompanied by Er. Rajnish Magotra, HOD (Head of Department), Department of Civil Engineering, Er. Inderdeep Singh, I/C HOD, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Er. Kumar Rishabh (Assistant Professor), and Er. Sandeep Thakur (Assistant Professor). |
