Two attempts of bovine smuggling foiled in Reasi | | | Early Times Report REASI, June 23: Two attempts to smuggle bovines have been foiled, resulting in the rescue of 32 bovines and the arrest of bovine smugglers, according to the Reasi Police. The District Police of Reasi in Jammu and Kashmir has been actively cracking down on bovine smuggling. During special operations, the Reasi Police set up checkpoints and successfully intercepted two individuals involved in smuggling. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Rshid, son of Gulzar Ahmed, and Manzoor Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid, both residents of Malikote Tehsil Chassana in the Reasi District. A total of 18 bovines were rescued from their possession. A case has been registered under FIR No. 34/2023, Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), at the Chassana Police Station, and an investigation is underway. In a separate incident at the same location, the police team once again intercepted individuals attempting to smuggle bovines. One person, identified as Shams Din, son of Gulam Mohd and resident of Malikote, was arrested, while another individual named Manzoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Yousf and belonging to the Gujjar community, managed to escape. The individuals were caught transporting 14 bovines towards Kashmir without proper permission. A case has been registered under FIR No. 35/2023, Section 188 IPC, at the Mahore Police Station, and an investigation is in progress. SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta - JKPS, emphasized the commitment of the Reasi Police in eliminating the menace of bovine smuggling, which is crucial for establishing peace and tranquility in the region. |
