Ashwik Singh wins under-17 Chess tournament | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, June 23: Ashwik Singh, a student of Humanity Public School (Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana), has brought great pride to the school by emerging as the champion in the final match of the Under-17 Boys Chess Tournament at the recently concluded Inter-Zonal District Level Tournament in Samba District. The tournament, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in Samba District, took place at the Indoor Stadium in Samba. Ashwik, an 8th-grade student at HPS, represented the Purmandal Zone and secured victory in the final game, thereby clinching the trophy. The tournament witnessed participation from all the zones of Samba District. The event was held under the patronage of Director YSS, Subash Chander Chibber, and under the guidance of Chander Kanta, the District Youth Services and Sports Officer in Samba, with overall supervision by Umesh Kumar Sharma, the Zonal Physical Education Officer in Purmandal. To acknowledge the achievements of the winners, a special assembly was organized at the school. Gaurav Charak, the Principal of Humanity Public School, along with Vice-Principal Anku Charak, commended the outstanding performance of the student. They also recognized the efforts of the Head Coach, Mahan Singh, as well as other coaches, including Shamsher Singh, Surjeet Singh, Rajan Singh, and Meenali Jamwal. The Principal emphasized that the school management has been proactive in nurturing and developing sports talents in the region. He further highlighted the importance of team sports in building stamina, promoting good health, and fostering vigilance in all aspects, particularly in this age of technological advancements. |
