No backdoor entry for any Kashmir based leader | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah not interacting with any Kashmir based politician during his 2-day J&K visit is a clear message to them that there are no favorites. An observer while talking to Early Times said, “The Union Home Minister during his recent J&K visit drove home a point that Kashmir based leaders will have to prove their worth and establish their representative character first. No one will be given an entry through a backdoor.” He said, “Till the scrapping of Article 370, Kashmir based politicians used to believe that New Delhi had to take them on board and they considered it as their right.” “After the abrogation of J&K’s special status all the myths have been shattered. It has been proven beyond doubt that the system can run without the involvement of Kashmir based leaders,” he said, adding, “As of date no politician in Kashmir can claim that he is indispensable.” Pertinently, no Kashmir based politician was invited to share dais with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the inauguration of the 3-day Vitasta Festival in Kashmir on June 23. From the Jammu and Kashmir government, only the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta were present on the podium. The other dignitaries were from the Central Government. According to the analysts the BJP led Government at the Centre has formulated a clear J&K policy and it seems to be based on the principle of “no appeasement” to anyone, and no one will be given a special treatment. “Leaders who want to make some impact will have to first win the trust of people and get elected. Then only they will be given any place anywhere,” an analyst said. He said, “Gone are the days when the leaders were handpicked and used to reach the power corridors through backdoor. Now, they will have to first prove their mettle and then talk.” |
