GDC Ramgarh raises awareness on international day against drug abuse, illicit trafficking | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, June 26: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit-Prabha of Government Degree College Ramgarh organized an extension lecture to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event was held under the auspices of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav and was led by Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College. The lecture aimed to create awareness among college students about the dangers of narcotics and the significance of leading a drug-free life. The program began with a welcome address by Prof. Seema Sharma, Head of the Department of Education. The resource person, Dr. Hari Slathia, BAMS HWC Swankha, highlighted the severe impact of illicit drugs on health, development, peace, and security. He emphasized the alarming number of deaths caused by drug abuse and the negative consequences on individuals and communities. Additionally, he shed light on the link between drug trafficking, money laundering, and terrorism. Dr. Shamsher Lal, the NSS Program Officer, discussed the dangers of drug abuse and how it disrupts the functioning of the brain, leading to the destruction of lives. He encouraged students to actively spread awareness messages in society to prevent drug abuse. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Risha Kumari, Assistant Professor in Punjabi. The event was attended by Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Shamsher Lal, and Prof. Risha Kumari. The participants actively listened and engaged in the lecture, contributing to its success. Overall, the extension lecture served as an important platform to educate students about the perils of drug abuse and the need to combat illicit trafficking. |
