Harsh Dev tours remote areas of Ghordi block
6/26/2023 10:49:09 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 26: Harsh Dev Singh visits remote areas of Ghordi Block to assess the challenges faced by the residents. Despite heavy rain, the former minister and JKNPP President ventured into hilly regions, including Kothi, Bhai, Janaidi, and Thill, to understand the difficulties experienced by the marginalized communities residing there. These areas lack basic amenities such as healthcare, electricity, water, and proper road connectivity, making them isolated from the rest of society. Harsh Dev Singh ventured through forests and flooded streams, reaching places that had been neglected for decades. During his interactions with the locals, Singh listened to their grievances and shared their concerns about the lack of attention from successive governments. The residents highlighted the absence of government officials, including civil servants and representatives from various departments, who had never visited these areas or addressed their needs. They urgently requested road connectivity for Bhai, Janaidi, and upper Kothi, along with the construction of footbridges and culverts to address the issue of flooded streams. The lack of medical facilities and staff availability further compounded their hardships.
In response, Singh assured the residents that he would raise their issues at the highest level to bring relief after years of neglect. He criticized previous leaders who only sought votes during elections but failed to fulfill their promises afterward, leaving the people to suffer. Despite the BJP winning multiple elections in the area, including at the BDC, DDC, MLA, and MP levels, the residents' living conditions remained deplorable.
Singh called upon government officials from various departments to visit these remote areas and understand the challenges firsthand. He urged the Lieutenant Governor to establish a special task force to assess and improve the living conditions of the people in such marginalized locations.
