Early Times Report JAMMU, June 28: In commemoration of World Drug Day, GDC Darhal joins the global initiative against drug abuse and illicit trafficking by hosting a virtual awareness campaign. The campaign, organized in collaboration with the NSS Unit (Imdad) and Red Ribbon Club, aims to shed light on the various phases of drug abuse and its detrimental effects. Through this initiative, GDC Darhal strives to strengthen global action and cooperation to achieve a world free of drug abuse. To actively participate in this awareness campaign, NSS volunteers from GDC Darhal have created informative posts and stories related to drug abuse. These materials have been shared across various social media platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. The goal is to raise awareness about the severe cultural and economic damage caused by the drug trade worldwide. Despite ongoing efforts, drug traffickers continue to exploit drug users and escalate the production of dangerous synthetic drugs with highly addictive properties. Addressing the NSS volunteers, Principal Prof. Mussaraf Hussain Shah emphasized the necessity of accountable and inclusive institutions in effectively addressing the global drug problem. Criminal justice, health, and social services must collaborate to provide comprehensive solutions aligned with drug control conventions, human rights obligations, and sustainable development goals. Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, NSS PO, and Convener of the Red Ribbon Club, praised the efforts of the NSS volunteers for their pivotal role in contributing towards the nation's goal of a drug-free society. Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch, along with the staff members and NSS volunteers, including Dr. Imtiaz Hussain Shah, Prof. Makhdoom Ahmed, Prof. Tahir Mahmood, Abdul Qayoom, Jameel Ahmed, Waqar Ahmed, and Mahboob Sadeeq, worked collaboratively to ensure the success of the event. Their dedication and hard work were instrumental in achieving the campaign's objectives and raising awareness about the pressing issue of drug abuse. |
