Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, June 28: On June 28, 2023, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur organized an awareness program to commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event, held under the theme "People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention," was conducted as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahaotsav celebrations.
As part of the program, a poster making competition and a slogan writing competition were held, engaging the students in creative expressions against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Additionally, a pledge taking ceremony took place, attended by the college's principal, staff, and students. This collective commitment aimed to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of preventing drug abuse and combating illicit trafficking.
During the event, Principal Prof. Hans Raj stressed the significance of awareness programs, particularly for college students, in combating the use of narcotics. He highlighted the role of awareness and encouraged students to adopt sports and yoga activities as part of their daily lives. By doing so, they can lead a healthy lifestyle and spread the message against drug abuse in society.
The program was organized by Dr. Radha Rani, the NSS Program Officer, and Dr. Swati Dutt. Under their guidance, the event successfully brought attention to the importance of addressing drug abuse and illicit trafficking within the college community. The efforts of the NSS Unit, along with the support of the principal and staff, contributed to raising awareness and fostering a drug-free environment.
