Early Times Report JAMMU, June 28: On the directions of Commissioner, JMC, Rahul Yadav, a joint team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and Doctors from the Sheep Husbandry Department conducted surprise meat inspection drives in various areas of Jammu City ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. The objective was to ensure the sale of wholesome and good-quality meat to consumers. The drives took place in Talab Tillo, Bohri, Muthi, Bantalab, Paloura, Janipur, Amphalla, CPO Chowk, Narwal, Gandhi Nagar, Gangyal, and Satwari, among others. Under the supervision of Municipal Veterinary Officer Dr. Sushil Kumar Sharma, meat shops, chicken shops, and fish mongers were inspected. During the inspections, approximately 25 kg of substandard meat was seized and properly disposed of. A fine of Rs. 18,900/- was imposed on meat sellers for selling unstamped, unhygienic, and substandard meat. The vendors were instructed to maintain separate bins for proper disposal of daily waste generated from refused/inedible meat and chicken parts, which would be collected by JMC vehicles. MVO, JMC also emphasized the importance of maintaining a hygienic environment in and around the meat and chicken shops. The shopkeepers and vendors were reminded to comply with the provisions of the Food Safety Act, 2006, Municipal Corporation Act, 2000, and other guidelines issued by the JMC to ensure that consumers receive good-quality and hygienic meat products. |
