Early Times Report JAMMU, June 28: Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), the Coordinator for Labour-20 Group of G-20 in India, organized a seminar titled "Social Security for Informal Sector: Scope, Opportunities, Challenges, and Way Forward" at Jammu Club Auditorium, Jammu. The event witnessed the participation of over 200 delegates from different districts and various social activists. Prominent figures such as B. Surenderen, All India Sangathan Mantri Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh and Chief Coordinator L-20, Pawan Kumar, Coordinator L-20, and Utter Cheter Sangathan Mantri BMS, Dy Labour Commissioner Minakshi Koul, Parshotam Dadichi (Ex-Additional Secretary Law), Asfaq Ahmed Chohan, State President BMS, Neelam Sharma, General Secretary BMS, Harbans Choudhary, and Ashok Choudhary were in attendance. During the seminar, Pawan Kumar, Coordinator L-20, provided a detailed explanation of the L-20 concept, which is a part of the G-20. He highlighted the existence of 11 engagement groups such as LABOUR 20, Business 20, Women 20, Civil 20, Tourism - 20, Parliament - 20, Young - 20, Start-up - 20, etc. The L-20 inception meeting took place in Amritsar from March 18 to 20, 2023, where two key issues were discussed: universal social security and international portability of social security funds, as well as the role of women in the working world and the upskilling of women workers. Task forces were formed under these subjects, focusing on universal social security management, women's work features, challenges of employment in G-20 countries, skill development, and stakeholder responsibilities. Minakshi Koul elaborated on the social security schemes implemented by the labor department and the challenges faced in their implementation. She emphasized the department's commitment to protecting workers' rights. B. Surenderen, Chief Coordinator L-20, discussed the challenges faced by the working class due to technological advancements.
