Crop Insurance Week Celebration Commences in District Reasi | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, July 4: The week-long celebration of Crop Insurance Week kicked off in District Reasi as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, under the guidance of Director of Agriculture Jammu, Sh. K.K Sharma. The inaugural event took place in the panchayat of Sirah Kotla, block Panthal, with approximately 50 farmers in attendance. The program was graced by the presence of Chief Agriculture Officer Reasi, Harbans Singh, and District Coordinator Ankit Khajuria from Reliance General Insurance Company. During the event, the Chief Agriculture Officer provided detailed information about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) crop insurance scheme, which was introduced for the first time in the district. He emphasized that the scheme has become a beacon of hope for the agriculture community, offering much-needed financial protection during times of distress. He explained that under PMFBY, farmers can avail insurance coverage of ₹60,000 for maize crop and ₹75,000 for paddy crop by paying a premium of ₹1,200 and ₹1,500 per hectare respectively. He further highlighted that the scheme not only provides financial security to farmers but also instills confidence in them to explore new avenues and adopt modern agricultural practices. The District Coordinator delivered a detailed presentation on the scheme through a PPT mode, enlightening the farmers in the presence of concerned Sarpanches and PRI members. The program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Bharat Bhushan, AEA Sirah Kotla. |
