At the outset, DY CMO Kathua briefed the meeting about the aims and objectives of IMI 5.0 through power-point presentation. He also explained different basic parameters to be considered while conducting IMI 5.0. The presentation emphasized on selecting the right beneficiaries, area, dropouts and missed out children.
While explaining the current immunisation scenario in the district, Dr Rakesh Magotra said that district have recorded some vulnerable spots for Measles, Rubella which are to be taken up on priority under IMI 5.0 besides covering high risks areas where nomads, labourers engaged in brick kilns and people living in slums will be taken care.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the stakeholders to work in synergy to ensure coverage of all drop outs under the Mission. He directed the CDPOs to maintain close liaison with other departments and mobilise grassroots functionaries including Aganwadi workers and ASHAs for the effective implementation of of the mission. He further directed the officers to identify the obstructions in the immunisation process, if any and find solutions for the same.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting of the District Advisory Committee on the implementation of the PCP&NDT Act in the district.
The meeting held threadbare discussions on various issues which included registration & renewal of ultrasound centres, implementation of preconception and prenatal diagnostic techniques Act, Regulation of GCCs, Labs and Clinics, Offences and penalties, Provision of registration, Inspection, mechanism for monitoring and implementation of PC & PNDT Act etc.

Pertinently, the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PCPNDT) 1994 is an Act of the Parliament of India enacted to stop female feticides and arrest the declining sex ratio in India and the act banned prenatal sex determination.
