Kya Raaz Hai? Hurriyat resurfaces on land for homeless issue! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 7: Even as the Kashmir based politicians have raised hue and cry over the government decision to allot land to the homeless in J&K, the Hurriyat Conference has surfaced only to add to fuel to the unwanted controversy. Whereas the Hurriyat Conference has been non-existent for the last few years mainly since the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, the separatist forum has suddenly got active by sending objectionable press not to the media houses and journalists to “raise serious doubts” over the land for homeless decision which had been hailed by the Bharatiya Janta Party. While the Early Times doesn’t find it appropriate to give space to any anti-national voice, the point remains as to what has prompted Hurriyat to get active when the government has already issued clarification in response to Mehbooba Mufti’s concern over the issue. Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Peoples Conference President Sajad Lone have also raised questions. But the statement from Hurriyat suggests that after the mainstream parties from Kashmir, the separatists are also joining the topic. While the Hurriyat has said the authorities “should come clean” on the issue, observers said what right does Hurriyat with unclean hands have to question the government. “Hurriyat has been mainly responsible for the death and destruction witnessed by Jammu and Kashmir for the last three decades and now the same sinister model is model is evolving again,” said an observer adding “Its for the government to see which Hurriyat is issuing statement and from where.” It’s pertinent to mention that the government has already issued clarification over the land to homeless by virtue of which those without their own homes would get land to construct their houses. The government has said the politicians questioning the move are ill informed about the development. Former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah and Peoples Conference President Sajad Lone have issued separate statements raising questions before the government. |
