Reasi, July 7: A one-day training programme on apiculture, conducted under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), took place at the meeting hall of the Sub Division Agriculture Office in Reasi. Approximately 50 farmers, including farm women from different blocks, actively participated in the event. Chief Agriculture Officer Harbans Singh provided detailed insights into the untapped potential of apiculture in District Reasi. He emphasized the rearing of honey bees and the expansion of apiculture units through subsidy provisions. Highlighting the various health benefits of honey, including its rich antioxidants, enzymes, and antibacterial properties, he emphasized its value as a natural and nutritious sweetener. Farmers were trained on bee colony management and care for honey production and other bee-related products. The session also focused on promoting sustainable apiculture practices, such as creating bee-friendly habitats, reducing harmful pesticide usage, and raising awareness about the importance of bees in pollination. |
