Early Times Report JAMMU, July 20: The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, conducted a General House Meeting to address two crucial agenda items: opposing the shifting of the High Court and considering the possibility of shifting the District Court and other forums to Raika. During the four-hour meeting, members engaged in detailed discussions, expressing both opposition and support for the relocation of the High Court. Prominent members opposing the shifting included M.K. Bhardwaj, Abhinav Sharma, J.A. Kazmi, Nirmal Kotwal, M.R. Qureshi, H.C. Jalmeria, Usman Salaria, Bhavishya Sudan, S. Baldev Singh (Jr), Arvind Bandral, Anna Durrani, Zamir Muslim Qureshi, Shrishti Paul Mengi, Yasser Farooq Khan, and General Secretary YLA. On the other hand, members expressing their views included M.A. Goni, Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed, Atul Raina, Mehrukh Sayden, and Ishant Gupta. Senior Advocate M.A. Goni suggested the formation of a Committee comprising both senior and junior lawyers to decide the future course of action based on the General House's decision. Three resolutions were passed through voice-votes by the General House: (a) The shifting of the High Court to Raika shall be opposed. (b) The Office bearers were authorized to form a Committee of Advocates, which will submit a report within 7 days, recommending further actions to be presented in the next General House Meeting. (c) The General House unanimously condemned derogatory messages on social media and WhatsApp groups targeting the Bar members, including the Senior Advocates. |
