Jammu, July 20: In response to complaints about overcharging, overloading, over speeding, and other visible offenses under the Motor Vehicles Act during the Amarnath Yatra, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Jammu, under the guidance of Pankaj Bhagotra, conducted an enforcement drive. A team of officials carried out surprise nakas on the Railway Station to Bhagwati Nagar route, checking around 50 vehicles. Fifteen vehicles were challaned/compounded for various offenses, including overcharging, overloading, rash driving, plying three-wheelers without a fare meter, and RC violations, among others. The enforcement team, which included ARTO Neeraj Sharma, MVI Jasbir Singh, and Taranjyot Singh from MVTA, issued warnings to operators, emphasizing the need to avoid overcharging, overloading, and over speeding. Strict action will be taken under the rules, which may include the suspension or cancellation of Route permits, Registration Certificates, or Driving licenses, for those found in violation. The authorities are committed to ensuring a safe and disciplined journey for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims and will continue to crack down on any violations to maintain road safety and convenience for all travelers. |
