Hindi satire 'Hawalaat' leaves audience reflecting on youth's struggle | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 23: Natrang Studio Theatre presented the thought-provoking Hindi satire 'Hawalaat,' written by renowned playwright and satirist Sarweshwar Dayal Sexena, in a gripping performance directed by Neeraj Kant. As part of Natrang's weekly show 'Sunday Theatre,' the play shed light on the untapped potential of the country's youth and the harsh reality they face. The story revolves around three desolate youths, left without shelter or food on the coldest winter night. Desperate for refuge, they decide to seek shelter in a police lock-up, presenting themselves as criminals to a police officer. To prove their criminal expertise, they engage in a series of comical and logical arguments. However, the cop remains unconvinced, leading to a hilarious yet poignant portrayal of the plight of the youth. The play serves as a powerful satire on the system's exploitation of the young generation. The establishment continues to deceive the youth with empty promises and slogans, failing to recognize the invaluable human resource the country possesses. The politicians' empty words echo the police officer's deceitful actions, as both play with the hopes and aspirations of the young populace. Chirag Anand's exceptional performance as the complex police officer portrayed both the internal conflict and external demeanor of the character with finesse. Aadesh Dhar, Abhimanyu Choudhary, and Sumit Bandaral delivered commendable performances as the three struggling youths, impressing the audience with their impeccable timing and expressions. The play's impactful lighting was executed by Neeraj Kant, and Sushane Dulloo managed the sound arrangements. The show was coordinated by Mohd. Yaseen, while Brijesh Avtar Sharma handled the presentations. 'Hawalaat' left the audience reflecting on the potential squandered by the present system, urging society to recognize and support the aspirations of the nation's youth. The hard-hitting satire resonated with the spectators, driving home a message of change and empathy. |
