Rajouri, July 25: In a crackdown against unlawful activities involving narcotics and illicit drugs, the district police Rajouri has detained a notorious drug peddler, identified as Mohd Zaheer, son of Abdul Majid, resident of Village Chowkian, Tehsil Darhal, District Rajouri. The accused has been booked under "The Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act" and is now lodged in District Jail Dhangri, Rajouri, following the orders of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, who has the authority to issue such orders. Mohd Zaheer has a history of involvement in drug-related criminal cases registered at various police stations over the past few years, often managing to secure bail from the courts. He is a habitual drug smuggler and supplier, posing a serious threat to public order and the safety of citizens, especially the youth, in Darhal town and other parts of the district. The detention order was executed by SHO Darhal Ashaq Hussain, under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed. SSP Rajouri, Amritpal Singh (IPS), asserted that the police are taking strong actions against those involved in narcotics and drug peddling, considering its severe impact on society. Similar detentions have been made in the recent past, and such actions will continue in the future as well. |
